Resident Evil 4 remake gets a trailer and March 2023 release date

The Resident Evil 4 remake is real, and it’s coming much sooner than any of us thought.

During State of Play June 2022, Capcom formally announced the Resident Evil 4 remake. Several months back, the rumor mill went wild with this one, and it’s all legit. Capcom promotion producer Edvin Edso provided some extra insight on the PlayStation Blog.

“The game is being developed to achieve state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror suitable for 2023, while preserving the essence of the original game,” Edso said. “We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it. This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard.”

Best of all? The Resident Evil 4 remake is coming out on March 24, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The remake’s tone is far bleaker than the original. Resident Evil 4 is known for being pretty silly and lighthearted, kind of like a cheesy 1980s action flick. Many long-time fans like myself were hoping the remake would be more of a conventional survival horror title, and it’s looking as though that’ll be the case. It’s looking brilliant.
