The Steam Deck has been delayed by two months, it’s now coming out in early 2022.
Valve Software let people that pre-ordered the device know that it won’t be coming out in December anymore because of supply chain issues — who could’ve ever guessed! Nintendo is facing the same issues with the Switch.
“We’re sorry about this, we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues,” Valve said on Steam’s website. “Due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.”
Valve estimates that the Steam Deck will begin shipping in February of next year, though no hard release date is available at this time.

The company went on to apologize for missing the original shipping dates while insisting on keeping everyone updated as time goes on. A bummer, for sure. But as the global semiconductor shortages rage on, these sorts of announcements are bound to happen.
The Steam Deck looks like a promising piece of tech, though Valve doesn’t want people opening them cause it might kill you. The company also made headlines recently with its enormous DOTA 2 International tournament.
