Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid says as long as there’s racial inequality in the United States, he will continue to protest.

He and former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick started kneeling during the national anthem before games early in the 2016 season to draw attention to social injustice in America, particularly around racial inequality. Other players have knelt or sat during the anthem, but Reid has remained a consistent protestor from 2016 on and has no plans to stop.

In an interview with the Charlotte Observer published Sunday, Reid explained why he continues to kneel:

“If a day comes that I feel like we’ve addressed those issues, and our people aren’t being discriminated against or being killed over traffic violations, then I’ll decide it’s time to stop protesting,” Reid said. “I haven’t seen that happen.”
