It gets said a lot, but I feel the need to reiterate it:
Angel Hernandez is the worst umpire in baseball.
Just four days after the longtime MLB umpire turned the Red Sox-Rays game into a lengthy and delayed mess, he was back at it again and remained terrible at his job.
Hernandez was behind home plate for the White Sox-Twins game on Sunday, and his inconsistent strike zone reached a boiling point in the sixth inning. With Eloy Jimenez batting with the bases loaded and no out, he took a presumed Ball 4, but Hernandez rung up the outfielder for a called strikeout.
White Sox manager Rick Renteria was furious and justifiably so.
Renteria emerged from the dugout to argue with Hernandez, which resulted in an automatic ejection for arguing balls and strikes. But really, someone needed call out Hernandez. Where’s the Yankee Stadium hot microphone when you need it?
This kind of performance really can’t continue.
