Kawhi Leonard had just hit the biggest shot in Toronto Raptors history in Sunday’s Game 7. It was pure bedlam inside the the Scotiabank Arena, with fans losing their minds over a shot that bounced off the rim four times before falling through the hoop.
The basket, which gave Leonard a game-high 41 points on the night, pushed the Raptors into the Eastern Conference finals and sent the Sixers home searching for answers over another abrupt playoff exit.
And while everyone was busy celebrating, Raptors center Marc Gasol took a few seconds to go up to Joel Embiid, give him a hug, and share a classy moment with the Sixers’ star.
On Wednesday, Gasol revealed what he told Embiid and why he felt it was important to do it then:
Classy stuff there by Gasol, who now faces another pretty good big man, Giannis Antetokounmpo, in the Eastern Conference finals.
