If there’s one thing we’ve learned about high-pressure national anthem performances, it’s that you don’t want to go over-the-top like Fergie during the NBA All-Star Game. But there should be a middle ground between Fergie and whatever Jimmy Buffett did on Sunday.
The musician and longtime Saints fan performed the national anthem ahead of the NFC Championship Game in New Orleans, and the rendition was so bad that it had fans asking for Margaritaville.
Buffett could not have put less effort into this anthem. What he did was hardly considered singing.
And fans absolutely hated it.
