There’s only one correct take to have on Odell Beckham Jr.’s dog peeing celebration: It was funny.
Laugh at it, and move on. No need to dissect it any further.
Of course that did not happen. Beckham’s celebration has become one of the bigger talking points this week, which is a bit strange considering all that’s going on in the NFL at the moment.
Grouchy people with no sense of humor did not like what Beckham did, and they’ve spent the week telling us about it.
Grouchy person No. 1: Giants owner John Mara
Grouchy person No. 2: Eagles coach Doug Pederson
Via the New York Post:
“It’s unfortunate; I have to control our guys, and every other coach has to control their players. But it’s something that — you don’t want to see it in the game. I think it takes away from a great play that he just made. But yeah.”
Grouchy person No. 3: Radio host Mike Francesa
“What I saw yesterday — and the fact that it was not addressed — is not only utterly outrageous, to me it’s the last straw. … [His talent] does not take away the deliberate way he runs things now, and he basically told you yesterday, ‘I’m not stopping, I don’t care, live with it.’ And you can’t have a team where an immature, highly-talented but immature and selfish player is going to set the agenda for your team.”
Grouchy person No. 4: Radio host Dan Patrick
Grouchy person No. 5: Fox Sports’ Skip Bayless
Grouchy person No. 6: SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano
Do you know what’s more hilarious than Beckham’s celebration? There are 50- and 60-year-olds getting angry at a 24-year-old for pretending to pee like a dog while playing a child’s game. Relax, people.
