Australians are generally a fun-loving people, and they also apparently do not possess a fear gene. In this video, Aussie fisherman Dan Hoey fights off a shark which is trying to munch on his boat motor by smacking at him with a broom.

I’m no marine biologist, but I feel comfortable with this advice: Don’t poke a massive shark with a broom. I feel good about dishing out that advice. I feel confident it is good advice.

And remember: Stay away from the ocean. Every single thing in it, including kelp and scallops, wants nothing more than to see you dead.
