Brazilian crowds showered Hope Solo with boos during USWNT win

The Brazilian crowds watching the U.S. women’s national team play New Zealand in Bela Horizonte, Brazil, were not big fans of U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo. Every time Solo touched the ball, a loud chorus of boos and whistles filled the stadium. Near the end of the game, when she kicked the ball, it sounded like the whole stadium yelled, in unison, “ZIKA!”

It seems the Brazilians were not thrilled with some comments she made about Zika in their country.

Perhaps they were annoyed with tweets like these:

To be fair, she has been very complimentary of Brazil since she’s arrived, but Brazilians apparently have a long memory.
