LeBron James says the Cleveland Cavaliers are 'too nice'

LeBron James fully realizes that the Cleveland Cavaliers are built to win a title this season, and any other outcome will be considered a total bust. If the season ended today the Cavaliers would be the top seed in the Eastern Conference, but James is far from pleased with his team’s attitude just a few months after falling to the Warriors in the NBA Finals.

Via ESPN:

“We haven’t done anything. We didn’t win anything. We lost. We lost in the Finals. So that’s enough motivation for myself. I think we need to understand that. Like, we lost in the Finals. We didn’t win. And the team that beat us looks more hungry than we are. So it shouldn’t be that way…. We’re too relaxed and too nice. We’re just too nice.”

James is clearly trying to send a message to his teammates, but it’s too early in the year to be seriously worrying about the temperament of the Cavaliers. Cleveland’s on a two-game losing streak, but the team is still first in the Eastern Conference with an 8-3 record without star point guard Kyrie Irving or Iman Shumpert. At this same point last season the Cavs were 5-6 and still nearly won the NBA title. Everything is fine, and James is just trying to do his job as a leader.
