In a Class AAA game between the Charlotte Knights and Syracuse Chiefs on Wednesday, Knights batter Matt Tuiasosopo smacked a fly ball to deep right-center and just out of reach of outfielder Darin Mastroianni. But that didn’t stop Mastroianni from attempting to run straight through the wall to make the catch.
He didn’t, but you have to applaud the effort:

Tuiasosopo, who excelled in a part-time role for the AL Central-winning Tigers in 2013, now plays in the White Sox’ system. He is the younger brother of former NFL players Marques and Zach Tuiasosopo and the first cousin of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man responsible for Manti Te’o’s fake dead girlfriend.
Mastroianni saw scattered big-league time with the Blue Jays and Twins between 2011 and 2013. He now plays in the Nationals’ system, and remained in the game after his noble attempt to match the great Rodney McCray.
