The hockey world has been waiting for Steven Stamkos to break free.

After all, he hadn’t scored in the playoffs since Game 1 of the 2014 playoffs, a stretch of 11 postseason games.

No worries. Stamkos finally scored in the second period Sunday – not with his patented one-timer, but on a slick-looking breakaway.

His moves left Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price, a Hart Trophy and Vezina Trophy finalist, looking the wrong way.

It was a big night for Lightning breakthroughs, as they ended a six-game drought on the power play with four power-play goals through the midpoint of the third period.
