Giants rookie falls down while delivering a truly horrible pitch

Giants rookie Chris Heston made a terrific start on Wednesday after joining the big-league club due to injuries to Matt Cain and Jake Peavey. The 26-year-old righty threw six scoreless innings and earned his first career win in a 5-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, but there’s one moment he’d probably like to have back.

On a pitch to slugger Paul Goldschmidt in the fourth inning, Heston slipped in the middle of his delivery and bounced the ball about five feet from home plate. Must have been a slippery night in Phoenix:

All things considered, Heston’s recovery is pretty smooth: He manages to right himself into position somewhat quickly, which might have come in handy had Goldschmidt been swinging a 14-foot bat. Heston laughed off his stumble and pitched another 2 2/3 innings before exiting the game.
