Ripped NFL punter Steve Weatherford answers 3 fitness questions

presstime_2

The holiday season’s here – and so are the cold temperatures that I will never get used to. Meanwhile, my kids are praying for snow so they can build little Olafs (Yes, that is a Frozen reference)! But honestly, it’s one of my favorite times of the year; to see the excitement on their faces Christmas morning and be able to celebrate as a family is the greatest feeling in the world.

But I will always appreciate the fact that I am able to spend these times with my family because of the brave men and women serving and protecting our country – and who aren’t able to be with their families for the holidays. I am truly grateful. Next week I’ll be making a very special visit to a military base to hang out with some awesome kids in the Boys and Girls Club – and I can’t wait to get a jump start on celebrating the holidays with them.

And now, let’s get to it…

What do you recommend for someone who works all day (7:30-10) and wants to work out? –@RosaRo11

Hey Rosa, I could imagine it’s tough to find time to work out with that schedule. See if you can’t change it up a bit, I always say, “Early to bed, early to rise” – try to cut out that extra hour or two at night watching TV to get to bed early; the earlier the better. Get a good rest and wake up an hour or two early and hit the gym, a good workout is a great way to start off the day. If not that, I’d try to take advantage of your weekends, or even days off. Put that free time to good use!

What are your best things to do to gain 40 speed- 100 speed and vertical? –@snakeeye223

It’s all going to be about the explosiveness. Add light power cleans, box jumps, one-leg extensions, and one-leg curls to work your fast twitch muscles – these exercises will help improve your speed and vertical.

How many pushups can you do? — Anonymous

Better to show than tell…

Unfortunately, there’s not enough time in the day! #SwollPatrol
