SOCHI, Russia – Joss Christensen, Gus Kenworthy and Nick Goepper swept the men’s freeskiing slopestyle podium on Thursday afternoon.
Only 24 hours later, they were on a cereal box.
A box of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes with the three Americans on the front was unveiled on TODAY on Friday morning. It was impressive considering the trio was photographed with their medals.
The medal ceremony took place around 8 p.m. local time here and Matt Lauer revealed the box around 3 p.m.
At least one of the medalists was impressed. Kenworthy tweeted, “Wait… WHAT?!!! This is the coolest thing ever! Aaahh!!!”
So how does Kellogg’s, which is a sponsor of the USOC, turn around a box so quickly?
Kellogg’s has a team from Battle Creek, Mich., in Sochi working with partners back home to create the boxes that were given to the skiers on “TODAY” Friday morning, according to Noel Geoffroy, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Innovation for Kellogg’s U.S. Morning Foods.
Kellogg’s is creating a limited number of boxes featuring Christensen, Kenworthy and Goepper, Geoffroy said.
