Lonzo Ball made appearances on ESPN shows on Thursday — this time, without his father, LaVar. On The Jump and SportsNation, Ball was asked what he thinks of the video from last week that shows LeBron James maybe mocking the NBA draft prospect’s shooting form.
So here’s what you’ve all been waiting for: Ball’s response to James. He said:
“I have no problem with it. That’s my favorite player growing up. He’s shooting like me, I’m not shooting like him, he’s shooting like me, so I smile … I’m not gonna lie, LeBron’s my favorite player. He is. I respect Kobe too.”
Another thing Ball said on SportsNation that may interest Lakers fans is that he’d rather play for the Lakers than be picked No. 1 in the draft because he said that having the opportunity to play in Los Angeles with his family nearby would mean a lot to him.
On The Jump, Ball talked about how he’s used to his dad being so outspoken, how James mocking his shot makes him smile, and he also got some career advice from Scottie Pippen. The six-time champ told the 19-year-old:
“I would just say keep believing in yourself, and once you get to this game, that’s when the work begins. Continue to work hard and make your mark in the game, and I wish you the best.”
